Magua, a friend from high school, and I began Saturday morning at Misquamicut State Beach in Rhode Island. Soothingly peaceful at the edge of the ocean, the waves breaking onto shore and the sand sliding under my feet. We sunned, with ample lotion applied, people watched and caught up with each other's life. Took a walk down the beach for a lunch of clam fritters and onion rings, then showered, changed clothes and off to the casino.
3:30 PM arrived at Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. Found the Leffinwell's Bar in the sky and a Cosmopolitan Martini. Lounged in comfy, large chairs overlooking the game floor and planned our strategy.
Luck was with me on the slot machines that afternoon. As our evening was winding down, Magua was playing it safe, so to share in the fun we took turns pulling my one-armed-bandit.
Woo-Hoo! My wallet amounted to $36 more than when I started - and on top of that - payed for dinner ($28 for both of us) and 2 cosmos ($10 apiece).
Immensely enjoyable days like this are fewer as we've gotten older.

Oh yes, I know what you mean. I also met up with old high school classmates this summer, it was nice to sit and chat and remember how silly we were when we were kids, and to see how far we have come. I do miss these too...
:)
Older? Who ya talking to, Willis? Lovely mellow post. Felt the ocean on my toes.
Great work. That's why I'm president of your fan club ....
I love connecting with HS friends. Something about being w/someone from that time when a friend meant just about everything to you.

phaseoutgirl & Mary,
Magua is one of my dearest friends. We live close, but haven't had a chance to really spend any quality time together in ages.
David,
I had my camera with me that day but didn't take any pics. (shame on me)
Mrs. Nesbitt,
Clam Fritters are balls of fried dough with clam bits inside.
