The Lucky Star

The Lucky Star
Mixed Media; Acrylic Paint, Sharpie Permanent Marker
and Color Pencil on Gessoed Hardboard.
Finished with Prismacolor gloss non-yellowing final fixative.
8" wide x 10" high.

The 8x10s fit on my new scanner bed (which is awesome)... plus 8x10 size has more image area for background patterns and/or textures. I'm liking this size, suits me for now.

The "Lucky Star" is much more pleasant than the "Fallen Star"! I like the contrast of good and evil. :o)

Perfect counterpoint to the previous.
I like how the shapes of her hair echo those of her wings.
New scanner,,,,perfect!

My goodness, this scanner DOES do great justice to the colour, Bab's is right.

I love you haven't made her "pretty", rather you have given her a kind face. A bit like how CS Lewis purposefully instructed his illustrator not to make Alice look too pretty in Alice in Wonderland, he wanted her to look a "thoughtful" child. (OK, I'm rambling, aren't I?) What I mean is, she radiates goodness. Lovely.

She reminds me a bit of Bette Midler.
I mean that in a good way of course.

Doug : )

I think this says, yes, we call all be angels. Actually her face looks very much like, shape wise, the "evil" angel's face. Congrats on the new scanner.

Jolene,
It only seemed natural to have an angel paired with a devil.

Babs,
I have fun working in the spirals. Both of these paintings were scanned. No glare from a camera flash.

Shrinky,
Interesting how some of you see the angel as a female. - Go ahead and ramble. I didn't know this about CS Lewis. Very interesting.

Doug,
(chuckle) oh, yes, Bette! I see.

Suki,
The form of the head and face is similar. The shapes just worked out that way.

i just love the fact that they all have such a sweet heart!

This angel looks male to me...and aged with wisdom, like Ellie I agree the heart is the most defining feature.
This series is really interesting.
I missed all the plastic toy series...very different and fun to ponder!

I like the smile on her face. She's happy watching over others I think.
