Alien Pet has been named! Thank you to Stephanie (from Facebook) and everyone else who chimed in.
Monion Gower
"Free," the sign said.
I stepped closer to read.
"One alien pet,
the best of the breed."
"Part monkey, part lion,
as tame as a goat.
Smells sweet like a flower
with a tan spotted coat."
"He'll fetch and roll-over
and sit on your knee..."
My heart beat in excitement.
He belonged with me.
He followed me home.
He purred all the way.
I whispered in his ear,
"This is our lucky day."

really funny name and sweet poem
Thanks Suki.
Monion = Monkey + Lion
Gower = Goat + Flower
I like him, he has a certain look about him. Part temple guardian, part thing from last Tuesday's bizarre quesadilla-inspired dream, he should make a great guard...thing. Or is it she? one can never tell with these alien beasties and half the time spores seem to be involved with reproduction.
Hello :-) As to how many people see "shrimp" instead of "shimp"? I'm guessing all of them :-) That's okay, my first name is Alane and upon introduction to me most people helpfully alter it to Elaine. It's kind of a theme with me.
I greatly enjoyed the poem, and thank you for the comment over at my blog.
The name is perfect, it suits him well (grin), and I love the story-verses of how he found you!
Shimp,
Thanks for popping in. Spores... aah, that's how he got to Earth. He makes a perfect pet.
Shrinky,
I asked my fans to help name him. "Monion" was suggested by a woman over at Facebook. "Gower" was my own choice. I'm so happy we found each other. (smile)
great name...(don't forget about that "s" one! to use in the future)
