101103 Buds & Pebbles

#101103 Buds & Pebbles

I like the look without ink better. It's looser and more organic.
Acrylic Paint on 140 lb., cold pressed, watercolor paper.
Image size: 19" wide x 13" high.

This does have more fluidity to it, the buds and little pebbles look to almost be wrapped in aspic! I like the vibrance of this, it positivley glows!

almost looks like batik.

I like the way the "ground" on this one is lower, if that makes any sense at all.

I think either one of these stands very well on it's own; just two different effects.
I really like how you've combined two of your series in these.

Shrinky, Aspic? Is that a Brit thing? (giggle) It is more fluid.

Suki, Funny you should see batik... I see silkscreen. All good.

San, Yes, the horizon is lower and the buds are bigger than the previous painting. I think those revisions help make a more interesting composition.

Babs, Yup, 2 different effects. I have used ink on my smaller critters, house and buds and I do like how the works on them, makes them more um... illustrative and graphic. But on these larger paintings I don't like the ink. I'm going for a more "fine art" style.

I can see what you mean about the ink. While I love ink on paper, I think this image is very good on its own.

I hadn't seen these and my first mental comment was "oohhoohh". I like 'em both but I think I like the one with ink a bit better. but both are wonderful

I can't decide. They don't seem like versions of each other, really - both compelling in different ways.
